Empowering Pastors Through Training

We are filled with gratitude and excitement as we reflect on our recent Global Training Event in Uganda. This event was a remarkable opportunity for us to engage with local pastors and leaders, equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead their communities in the love and knowledge of Christ.

Our training team, led by Dr. Randall McElwain, was comprised of passionate trainers from Africa85 and SGC and split into two groups to maximize our impact. While Glenn Gault and Pastor Allegri conducted training sessions at the Rwamwanja Refugee Camp in western Uganda, Maricka Herrer, Dr. Steve Oliver, and Dr. Randall McElwain facilitated workshops in Jinja and Mbale in the eastern region. On this trip, we were also privileged to visit Africa Renewal University, where SGC courses are used to teach all 700 students.

One of the standout stories from this event comes from Dr. Randall McElwain, who highlighted the encouraging journey of Allan Taffin, a creative pastor dedicated to fostering a network of like-minded leaders. Through this training, 15 pastors committed to developing structured programs within their churches, ensuring monthly follow-ups with Allan. For many, this marks their first encounter with a structured training program, igniting hope and a sense of community among them.

Pastor John Kato’s commitment to training rural church leaders over the past three years is another testament to our shared mission. With his established training in six villages, Pastor Kato aimed to empower additional trainers during the event, thereby expanding the reach of this essential education to more rural areas of southern Uganda.

As Glen Gault of Africa85 noted, one of the incredible privileges of participating in these training events is witnessing the work of God in Africa. During his time at the Rwamwanja Refugee Camp, Glenn was invited by pastors from CEPAC Mission, and it was heartening to see participation from various other churches. Their training focused on utilizing the SGC curriculum to empower these pastors to become leaders of the next generation. The Holy Spirit guided Glenn’s choice of the “Doctrine and Practice of Holy Living” for demonstration lessons, providing a solid scriptural, timely, and necessary foundation. This emphasis on holiness resonated deeply with the participants, offering them renewed courage to spread this vital message.

The impact of our training is further illustrated through the testimony of a local Ugandan Pastor named Davis Juma. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the resources: “I have begun with two classes… I had only the leaders of my association in mind. But since training/discipleship is long overdue and is needed in many churches, I have requests from leaders to join.” Davis’s story exemplifies the ripple effect of our collective efforts as more leaders seek to be equipped and trained in their respective communities.

As we move forward, we remain committed to providing quality, free curriculum to these pastors and their communities. By God’s grace, the relationships built during this training event will be the beginning of something special. We encourage our donors and supporters to continue praying for the growth and success of these programs, as they play a crucial role in transforming lives and spreading the gospel throughout Uganda.
Thank you for being a vital part of this journey with us. Together, we are equipping leaders, fostering discipleship, and planting seeds of faith that will flourish for generations.

May God bless you abundantly.
