From March 16-30, 2025, Becky and I were privileged to spend two weeks in India with one of SGC’s newest ministry collaborators: Reaching Indians Ministries International. Under the humble, visionary leadership of Dr. Saji Lukos and his wife Mony, “RIMI” has grown from an exploratory prayer journey in 1990 to a regionally accredited seminary—Mission India Theological Seminary, 30 grassroots Bible schools, 2,000 church planters, at least 13,000 house churches, a hospital, and numerous “Mercy Homes” for orphaned children and trade schools for the poor. It was a challenging and inspiring two weeks! Dr. Lukos had requested that we come to India to introduce SGC curriculum tools with the goal of standardizing training in RIMI’s 30 Bible schools.
Along the way, we were honored to meet so many devoted servants of Christ (many coming to faith out of Hinduism), listen to story after story of transformed lives, and participate in three graduations and two pastors’ conferences in two Indian states. We traveled by planes, trains, and taxis! What an incredible opportunity this was!
Pray for India. Pray for SGC as we seek to equip ministries like RIMI with tools for pastor training. And pray for our Bengali, Hindu, Urdu, Telugu, and Tamil translation teams as they work.
India has 1.4 billion souls, but the vast majority are Hindu, and only about 2.5% profess to follow Jesus. The need for evangelism and discipleship is staggering, and indigenous pastors who already know the language, culture, and customs are best positioned to do it. The ripple effect of pastor training will impact this entire nation for Jesus Christ.
